Stress is a force that affects an individual from the inside or outside world. There are so many things happening in one’s life that may affect either positively or negatively. The negative things lead to stress. The way of responding to stress differs from person to person. But as humans are adaptive to different conditions and have the capacity to overcome the affects of stress also. There are many ways to get rid of stress. The factors that cause stress are internal or external. Internal reasons like physical inabilities, fitness levels, emotions, lack of sleep, any kind of illness etc. and external reasons like relationships, family and office environment and challenges and difficulties in life are major causes of stressful living.
The signs and symptoms of various people differ from one another. Everyone has their own way of expressing stress. Stress is expressed in a variety of emotional, behavioral or physical ways. Some of the common symptoms of stress are sleep disorders, headaches, nervousness, anxiety, irritation and depression.
Uncontrollable and constant stress can lead to many diseases like high blood pressure, heart diseases and addictions. Stress can also effect many organs and lead to skin rashes, gastro intestinal diseases, some cancers and even speed up the process of aging. Stress also may have long lasting impressions on the personality of a person.
Stress managing by regular practice of yoga is the most beneficial of all. Yoga not only releases stress but has other benefits as well. Yoga constitutes of asanas, pranayam and meditation.
Stress makes the body of a person rigid and tensed. Practice of yogasanas releases stress in the muscles and helps remove stress. A stressed body cannot remove toxins or allow free flow of oxygen to various body parts. Regular yoga practice stretches each and every body muscle and relaxes the body. It helps to get rid of the accumulated stress hormones and toxins.
The breathing of a stressed person is not proper and is shallow. Hence the oxygen flow is improper. With pranayam or breathing techniques in yoga one can normalize his breathing. Pranayam not only fills the blood with oxygen it also relaxes the body and mind and gives a fresh feeling.
Meditation is one part of yoga that cannot be avoided. Meditation helps in concentration and makes aware of the inner self. There are many techniques of meditation or dhyana that can help in removing stress.
Yoga creates a mind and body balance. It makes you aware of the body. Yoga has been designed to know the inner of a person. The practice of yoga makes aware of the connection of mind, body and spirit and helps in maintaining balance in day to day life.
